AMERICA UNDER ATTACK

A day like many others, a sunny fall morning at eight;
the world is awakening and people are acting as ever.
How little we knew about the horror that did just wait
to approach thousands of innocent ones, now lost forever.

The city of millions, crowded as always, didn't know yet
about the enemy with his attack without one single warning;
How easily and quickly like in "The Towering Inferno"
the twin towers of the Trade Center became towers of death.

The famous Pentagon, symbol of military might shattered,
fire raged on most of the day from main floor to above.
People so desperately trying to escape were found gathered;
they died in the sickening fear, all so lost and without love.

Unknown enemies waged war against the entire human race,
today it already has a name: "Day of Infamy in History"
A more than sad conclusion for the country with the face
of courage, heroism and freedom so strong, for ever to be.

For the United States it was the day of unspeakable tragedy,
with the frightened attacks on that beautiful sun-bright day.
It seemed to be quite easy to strike fear in an open society
and the terrorists succeeded in genuinely doing that yesterday.

The four ill fated jets all at the start of long land flights
were loaded with the fuel to bring them to the West Coast,
as terrorists turned the jetliners deceitful into giant bombs
which made the whole world devastated, New York the most.

This terrorism is mean being faceless, fanatical and cowardly;
it made a hole in the skyline where the Center once stood,
with it's majestic looks, the huge proud heart of the City
Now vaporized, gone, vanished from it's place for good.

The consequences are yet to be determined, how many did die?
The only thing we can hope that the fright is over for today.
We keep on searching for answers, going on asking "Why"?
so we will be able to begin to heal; each of us in our own way.

We all know the world will never be the same ever again;
for a few moments I'm seeking some peace; I close my eyes
for the horror unfolding and while I think about the pain
I whisper the only words which can escape as my heart cries:

GOD BLESS AMERICA
